I am an active member of KOTESOL, and I have attended monthly KOTESOL professional development workshops since 2011 and the national and international conferences. In the workshops, along with other teachers in the Daegu area, we work on professional development as EFL teachers. For example, one workshop discussed using authentic materials in the classroom to promote authentic learning. After that workshop, I started using teaching materials from the real world in my conversation classes. For example, I would record my conversation with friends while at a restaurant to use as material in the classroom for a lesson on small talk.
