Objective: Students should progress towards achieving social, affective, cognitive, and linguistic growth critical to the students' academic and personal successes

​

Module 1: Communication and People Skills

Units 1, 2 and 4 (Email, Biodata and Autobiography)

​

Tasks and their outcomes:

Speaking task:

social and formal introductions(handouts), Identity survey (2), Star signs(4), What can I do(6), Making Plans(11,12), Top Qualities and Abilities(13), Occupations(15),What,Where, Who game(16), Topics in this Book(20), That’s Life(31,32), Who am I(35), My reading Skills(40)

Writing Tasks:

Application form(7), Send an email to the teacher(9), write a Biodata for publication on a website(123,18,19), and write autobiography(38,39)

Basic outcomes:

Develop people and communication skills

Build confidence and motivation, and communication skills such as persuasion, active listening, and leadership and people skills such as understanding oneself, talking effectively and empathizing with others, and building relationships of trust and respect, all leading to productive interactions. Introduce yourself to others through written and spoken forms in social and formal settings.

Module 2: Career Skills

Units 3, 7, 6, 5 (resume, cover letter, thank you letter, personal statement and Job interview)

Writing Tasks:

Employment Portfolio which includes a title page, Biodata for a website, application form, cover letter(65,67,68.69), resume(28,29,30), personal statement (56, 57, 58, 59) and thank you letter(47,48,49).

Basic Outcomes:

Develop workplace skills including communication, organizational, computer, interpersonal, analytical/critical thinking, leadership, time management, and professional skills. Also develop job interview skills which include verbal and non-verbal forms of communications and strategies for successful interviews.

Module 3: Creativity and Research and Organizational Skills Units 8, 9 and 10 (Reviews, Drama and Media presentation)

Tasks and their outcomes:

​

Speaking task:  

Make, practice and perform a drama, and research, make, practice and give a presentation

​

Writing Tasks:

Brainstorming and writing outlines for the play and presentation(91,92,101,102); writing the scripts for the play(93,94); Depending on the media project selected, writing articles(103-106); making posters; preparing slides; making subtitles for a video presentation;

​

Basic outcomes:

Promote creativity and free expression through the play and formal communication through the presentation as well as develop basic research skills. The students will use all the skills from FE1 and FE2 such as problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, organization, time management, etc. Also, develop people skills working with others in the group. Use research and analytical skills.
