"The secret of education is respecting the pupil."

Students must feel good about themselves

Helping students feel good about themselves is something anyone can do.. And it makes us teachers feel good in return.

Teachers can...

  • boost their self-esteem through praise

  • help them work through any feelings of alienation, depression, and anger

  • help them realize and honor their intrinsic worth as human beings.

Students should have an outlet, both positive and healing, for these feelings.

I started a support group in the form of the KNU conversation club

Goals

  • Provide a warm, caring environmentto facilitate personal and academic growth

  • Provide a support program that will help students deal with  problems and concerns in positive, appropriate ways.

Why to avoid teacher's pets and favoritism in the classroom and between classes

  • problems occur in the classroom when non-verbal behaviors differ toward high achievers and low achievers

  • and can make students angry or dissatisfied

To treat students fairly and the same...

  • teachers have to control their emotions

  • do not let emotions interfere with the learning experience

It is crucial that classroom rules and procedures be followed consistently and fairly so that, at all times, students know what they can expect from the teacher.
